The Spirit of Adoption

I got a chance to tell my coworker Abby tonight(who doesn't know Jesus yet) about the family of God and the the spirit of adoption and how each one of us carries attributes of His nature. I talked to her about how we each posses traits of our earthly father and how we are God's kids is we are born inot (or adopted into His family). I also told her because we each carry different things and because He is so so vast that it takes all of us sons and daughters coming together to show people what He is really like. Anyways, our conversation reminded me of these two songs that talk about God's family: Enjoy!

BRIGHT AND BEAUTIFUL

Ben Pasley and Aaron Strumpel

Bright and beautiful is your family O God

Wild and wonderful is your family O God

Where love and faithfulness bind together, Amen

And righteousness falls in love with peace again

The Father gathers all His children

Brothers and sisters holding on

Mothers take care of babies

Orphans find adopting love

YOU'RE HOUSE

Aaron Strumpel

Build us a house Oh God, it's rooms are filled with praise

Build us a family Father, sons and daughters of light

Build us a house Oh God, it's walls will echo your peace

Build us a family Father, children to run and play

We sing as people You set free

You dream the very best, You dream

And then we know, we know

A home is what we make in You

You love Your children yes You do

We are Your house, Your home

Build us a house Oh God, keep it sunny by day

Build us a family Father, our sons will love Your name

Build us a house Oh God, keep us safe at night

Build us a family Father, our daughters Your word will keep

Do you have any weed?

Greetings from Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon!

God has blessed us in the last year with a 24-7 prayer room in the heart of campus life. We are beginning to see breakthrough on the campus as mission and prayer have begun to unify campus ministries. We just had the Collegiate Day of Prayer last Thursday, and nearly every campus ministry from Campus Crusade to Chi-Alpha to local church ministries partnered around the clock together in prayer.

At the end of everything there were still some stragglers hanging out around 1AM when we heard voices down on the street below asking us for weed (they had no idea that it was a prayer room). I yelled back that we had something for them and we would be right down. My friend Tylor and I ran down the stairs to meet the two guys. We started talking to them, and one of the guys asked if we had bongs up there.  I felt prompted to ask his friend if he wanted prayer for anything. He looked surprised, but answered, "Yes". His uncle had cancer and he had just broken up with his girlfriend that day. I told him I'd pray for him, and as we were speaking I started to feel a burning on my heart and I told him that I could feel the love of God for him. He looked shocked, but thanked us. At this point they continued to walk down the street, and we said good bye.

About five minutes they came back and Clint (the one I'd been talking to) said that he figured we were just kidding with him but that he really felt like he had an epiphany. I assured him we weren't kidding and that God loved him and that what he was feeling was the presence of God. He replied several more times that he knew that we must be joking, but that he really felt something. At this point Tylor and I decided to take him up to show him the prayer room just so that he'd believe us. He and Kevin again looked shocked as they entered the upper room and saw art all over the place, music playing, and people praying (at 1AM mind you). We showed Clint the prayer request wall and asked if he would like to put his uncle up on the wall so that people would be praying for him all the time. He said yes and when he was done writing out a prayer request for his uncle he asked for another one for his girl friend.

At this point his friend Kevin was looking around to see if we had any bongs. I told him we had something better and asked if he wanted to try it. He said sure. I asked him hold out his hands, and invited the Holy Spirit to come. He started twitching and smiling. I asked him how he felt, and he said, "I feel like I just did a bong rip." I told him that that was the presence of God and that God loved him. Anyways, we are thankful for encounters like this and are seeing more of them each day. Yesterday, we even had a newly saved man baptized in our bathtub!

Thank you all for partnering with us here in Oregon and we speak blessings on all of you!
